Creekside Villa Wedding in Canmore
Emily and David wanted to give their guests an experience amidst the stunning Rocky Mountain scenery of the Bow Valley in Canmore. So that’s why they decided have a Creekside Villa wedding. This intimate venue was perfect for a single-location wedding that made everything easy. It didn’t hurt that the weather was perfect on their wedding day either! They opted for Storyteller Interviews in their wedding film to give it a little more depth and to help people from both sides of the family get to know them a little better.
A very “Vancouver” first date
Emily and David are a very “ying & yang” couple who have a great back story. It goes back to their days in Vancouver and what turned out to be a very west-coast first date, where Emily invited David to join her for a little Kitsilano yoga in the park followed by ice cream. They hit it off immediately, and have made yoga and ice cream an ongoing part of their relationship.
Having everything taking place at Creekside Villa made the day easy. Emily and David had invited some family members who were in frail health, so we started the day with a rapid test to make sure we didn’t have the you-know-what. We passed with flying colours (as did their guests) and it was off to the races. We began filming the happy couple getting ready in their rooms and did the Storyteller Interviews.

First Look followed by their Creekside Villa Wedding
With the Three Sisters in the background, Emily and David did a First Look just beside Creekside Villa. Their ceremony followed on the beautiful outdoor site beside the villa. Family photos came next, then a creative photo and video session with the couple and their bridal party. We love getting creative shots during this time. It makes for great supporting footage to enhance storytelling in the wedding highlight video, and helps give a sense of what the couple are all about.
The Reception also took place in Creekside Villa. Setting up for video in restaurants can be tricky at times, but the layout here was well thought out and allowed us to get good coverage of speeches and audience reactions. We like to have redundancy for audio in case something goes wrong, so in addition to placing our own microphone on the mic stand we took a feed from the DJ’s system (they were using his wireless mic.) All in all, a great day. Congrats to Emily and David!
