Alyssa and Nathan decided that it would be a real adventure to bring their little family into the mountains for their Lake Minnewanka wedding in Banff National Park. Before her wedding, Alyssa told us she was most excited about getting married in the mountains she loves so much. And the vintage Rolls Royce limousine.

Getting ready in Canmore

Both Alyssa and Nathan share a love of road trips and travel. And they wanted to give their 4 kids a special experience in the gorgeous scenery of the Canadian Rockies. They decided they’d get ready in Canmore, then head to Lake Minnewanka in Banff National Park for a lakeside wedding with a stunning mountain backdrop.

The day began in Canmore, where the family got ready in separate locations so that the Nathan wouldn’t see Alyssa until the ceremony. Nathan got ready with their two little boys, while Alyssa was with their two little girls at a separate hotel nearby.

The Shoreside Lake Minnewanka Wedding Ceremony

Alyssa’s Mom connected by live video feed on her phone (aka FaceTime) and was able to watch her granddaughters and Alyssa open their gifts from her. Seems almost routine now, but it’s incredible that streaming video is so easily available to all. Even someone on the other side of the continent can be involved in such an intimate moment.

After a short drive to Lake Minnewanka, everyone was met by the team from Mountainscape Weddings. We headed to a secluded lakeside location that featured an arch framing a stunning lake and mountain backdrop. Nathan waited anxiously for his bride, facing the lake as Alyssa emerged from the forest.

Wedding Ceremony on the lakeshore

Alyssa and Nathan exchanged their personal vows, then cut their wedding cake and treated their kids. The two boys and two girls raced around, burning off the sugar rush, while photographer Kim gathered the happy couple and their family for group photos.

The formal part of the day completed, we joined with Kim and spent some time with Alyssa and Nathan at Lake Minnewanka, getting creative footage for their wedding film. Then they were off for a family dinner in Banff in the vintage Rolls Royce Alyssa had so been looking forward to. Congrats to Alyssa and Nathan!
