With the arrival of the pandemic, for many weddings videography has become a must have. After being together for 8 years, Chelsea and Mike wanted to invite all their friends and family to their spring Silvertip wedding in Canmore. But then they had to put their plans on hold.
A few months later the first wave had passed, and Chelsea and Mike decided they simply couldn’t wait any longer. It was time to get hitched! After looking at all their options, they decided to schedule a smaller affair for September of 2020. Restrictions had eased somewhat as COVID case numbers fell, meaning they could invite more guests to their wedding. One thing didn’t change, and that was the gorgeous venue: Silvertip Resort. Situated in the mountains high above Canmore, the Silvertip gazebo offers spectacular valley views and a beautiful backdrop for any wedding video or photograph.
But what to do about those who couldn’t attend? For most weddings, videography is the answer. It’s really the only way couples can share their special day with everyone. All the sights, sounds, and above all the emotions they experience. Fortunately, Chelsea and Mike had already engaged us as their Canmore wedding videographers, and we were happy to oblige and shift our schedule for their wedding date change.
A Beautiful Silvertip Wedding at the Gazebo
Everything worked out perfectly, with a gorgeous sunny day as they welcomed an intimate gathering of friends and family to their fall Silvertip wedding. The morning began in the town of Canmore, where bother Chelsea and Mike had chosen to get ready at the beautiful Stoneridge Resort. It’s always great for us when couples choose to get ready at locations close to each other, as it means wasting a lot less time travelling and more time filming. Chelsea and Mike were only a few rooms apart, which worked out very well.
Mike certainly looked emotional as he watched his beautiful bride come down the aisle. Patrick Smiley officiated their Silvertip wedding ceremony. Civil ceremonies in Alberta make use of standard views that wedding commissioners are obliged to use, so it’s always great when Patrick opens with his trademark storytelling. Such a great way to personalize the wedding for the couple and their guests.
Ceremony complete, it was time for some family photos on the golf course at Silvertip, then back down into the valley for a wedding party photo and video creative session in Canmore. The rail bridge on the Bow River is a popular location for this, and it didn’t disappoint. On such a beautiful fall day it can get busy, but the amazing view of the river, rail bridge, and front range of the Rocky Mountains makes it all worthwhile. It’s amazing how accommodating and friendly Canmore residents are to newly married couples trailing along an entourage of wedding party, photographer and videographer.
After a quick stop at Quarry Park on the south bank of Canmore, the wedding party returned to Silvertip for Chelsea and Mike’s reception. It was quite amazing to see how diligent staff had been in ensuring the safety of guests with proper social distancing protocols. As usual, Ashley of Signature Weddings had done an amazing job of organizing the entire day and decorating the Pavilion. There aren’t many wedding planners who can match her energy!
A delicious dinner and emotional speeches led off the evening, with a quick break for some more photos and video on the golf course. Then the big moment: Chelsea and Mike’s choreographed first dance. It looked amazing under the lighting decor provided by Silvermoon Productions. Unfortunately the dancing and party that might have followed weren’t allowed under current rules, but it was still an amazing evening in the mountains. Congratulations Chelsea and Mike!
