Silvertip Winter Wedding in Canmore

What kind of a wedding works best for a couple that met while skiing at Lake Louise? Not hard to answer. It’s the reason Sarah and Cam decided on a Silvertip winter wedding. Sure, it was technically spring, but this is the Canadian Rockies and the true season is dictated by the outdoor temperature and the amount of snow still on the ground. At a minimum, Cam and Sarah were pretty confident they could at least still count on there being snow on the surrounding peaks.

Planning a Silvertip Winter Wedding

A big part of Sarah and Cam’s wedding plans was not only for it to have a winter theme, but to make sure they included their 2 year-old son Landon. He also forms a big part of their backstory so we made sure to include it in their wedding video. Landon even made a timely appearance while Cam was reciting his personal vows to Sarah.

With winter weddings, the big challenge is usually the weather. Even in April, you’re never quite sure what you’re going to get. In the end, it worked out perfectly, with the snowy, wintry look the wanted but without the deep freeze that can happen earlier in the year.

Spring Creek First Look in Canmore

After getting ready in separate villas, Sarah and Cam wanted to share a First Look. The spot they chose was on a bridge over Spring Creek, behind the Malcolm Hotel. From there it was across the valley and up the winding road to the Silvertip Resort.

Both the ceremony and reception took place at Silvertip. With the gazebo closed until later in the spring, Sarah and Cam exchanged their vows outdoors on the patio. The snow-capped Three Sisters mountains provided a stunning backdrop.

From there it was off to cocktails in the rustic Pavilion, decorated with a “Woods” theme by Erika and the team from Signature Weddings by Ashley.
