The Dogs Were So Excited To Be Included

When Kevin and Sinéad were dating in high school, they probably never imagined the path in life they would take. One that took them apart, then together again six years later. And one that eventually led to their Tunnel Mountain Banff wedding.

Getting Ready at Buffalo Mountain Lodge

Kevin and Sinéad planned everything to take place within a few hundred metres. We started the day filming both of them getting ready at Buffalo Mountain Lodge. Super convenient. Not only because their reception would take place there, but because the ceremony would be at scenic Tunnel Mountain, just across the road.

The couple didn’t want to see each other before the ceremony. Instead they scheduled a first look with Sinéad and her Dad, as well as a first look between Sinéad and their two fur babies. After he had finished getting ready, Kevin dressed both dogs for the wedding in appropriate attire. The reaction of the dogs when Sinéad appeared in her wedding dress was priceless. Although the couple didn’t see each other, they did have a First Touch, where Sinéad presented a surprised Kevin with a gift.

Tunnel Mountain Banff Wedding Ceremony

With mist-shrouded mountains, Kevin and Sinéad’s Tunnel Mountain Banff wedding ceremony got underway in the early afternoon. Both bride and groom got a big cheer from the crowd when they appeared, and the well-dressed dogs were a big hit.

The couple had decided not to include wedding day interviews before the ceremony. Instead they opted to tell their story as part of the personal vows they had written. They both spoke from the heart. That personal touch is important, and really helps give a wedding video long-lasting value. We’d worked with Cole Hofstra before in his days as a top wedding photographer, and he did an amazing job as officiant.

The dogs were let loose at the end of the ceremony and added real energy to the recessional! Family photos followed at Tunnel Mountain.

Photo/Video Creative Session at Lake Minnewanka

After the Tunnel Mountain Banff wedding, everybody hopped in the AMPM limo-bus. We headed to Lake Minnewanka for group photos and a creative session with the couple. The combination of the lake, forest, and mountains made for an incredible scenic background. Our goal here is always to work together with the photographer and try to capture some natural moments with the couple. To show their character and personality. In a wedding video, this is used as “B-ROLL” (supporting footage) to help tell their story. We also want to show some of the fun. Everyone is always in a great mood and relaxed after the ceremony.

Buffalo Mountain Lodge Reception

The final part of the day was of course the reception at Buffalo Mountain Lodge. While their guests enjoyed cocktails, planner Joelle of Joy by Joelle revealed the room décor to Sinéad and Kevin. It looked amazing. One of the unique things that took place was a change of dress to something more comfortable and casual for everyone. After cake cutting, formal dances, and speeches, the wedding party and guests changed into custom sweats.

Sparklers were brought out later. Kevin and Sinéad ran the gauntlet of fire for their exit, with everyone cheering them on. They weren’t quite done yet, though. With all of their guests departed, the happy couple returned to Buffalo Mountain Lodge for an intimate Last Dance. Just the two of them and a Taylor Swift song (and a DJ and photographers/videographer filming discreetly of course.)
